WHICH AREA TO CHOOSE FOR CYCLING IN TENERIFE?

Once we have decided that we are going to come to Tenerife to enjoy it on two wheels, the first question arises, what area do we choose?
The first thing to say is that practically any area we choose will allow us to enjoy cycling on the island.
This is because Tenerife mainly meets 3 requirements for it:
1- Terrain: Whether you want to ride on flat terrain or climb mountain passes, the island offers all kinds of possibilities
2- Roads: In Tenerife there are a large number of well-paved roads and secondary roads that allow you to cycle through many roads with very little traffic.
3- Weather: The island has around 315 days of sunshine per year and only about 50 days of precipitation per year.
That said, depending on the type of experience you are looking for, it is preferable to stay in one area or another:
Unevenness: If you are looking to train with a lot of unevenness every day, the best option is to stay in the north of the island (La Laguna or Puerto de la Cruz preferably). In the Hotel Aguere or in the Laguna Gran Hotel they have availability of our bicycles. From La Laguna we find one of the most famous access climbs to the Teide National Park. It can also be accessed from La Orotava, on the north side of the island, and from Los Cristianos, via Vilaflor, on the south side. Most of Tenerife's mountain passes are found in these sections. Towns such as La Esperanza, Chio, Barroso or Aguamansa are uniquely beautiful and will allow you to relax and enjoy an excellent combination of sea and mountain landscapes.

Ride on the flat: Practically any area outside the routes indicated above will allow you to find good routes with little difference in level. The area of the Isla Baja in the north of the island or the general highway of the South, TF-28, are areas where you can flatten and add a few meters of unevenness if you wish.
Beach-city-cycling combination: The capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz allows you to enjoy the cycling, beach and leisure pack. At Hotel Mencey, you can stay and rent our Megamo bikes. Traveling along the capital's coastal road along Av Anaga to Playa de las Teresitas and climbing the famous "Bailadero" is one of our most famous circular routes visiting the natural environment of Anaga. In the southern part of the island (Los Cristianos, Adeje, Armeñime, Playa Santiago, Los Gigantes) you can also enjoy pedaling along the coast, with the sea and sun as indisputable witnesses. Seeing the cliffs of Los Gigantes or climbing Masca will put the most “climbers” to the test.
Combination Relax-all types of terrain: If you are looking for a tourist cycle vacation enjoying a quiet place away from the crowd, our recommendation is to stay in La Laguna. Places such as Plaza del Cristo (Market), C/ Herradores or Heraclio Sanchez are local areas where you will find our Canarian cuisine and customs and also offer a perfect location with a multitude of possibilities for your routes.
Teide Bike Service offers a state-of-the-art Megamo bicycle rental service with delivery and collection in the place that the client wishes, in order to make their cycling experience as easy as possible.
